 Best Of Times?

Perhaps there is some truth in Charles Dickens’ long-winded prologue from A Tale Of Two Cities, which begins “It was the best of times; it was the worst of times.”  In some areas it is, indeed, the worst of times.  Economists say no state has been hit as hard as California.

Forbes.com states “The economic storm sweeping the country has left Americans with few places to hide.  Those looking to hunker down might want to head to Texas, where they can get the best value for their dollar...a reputation for affordable housing continues to lure people to the South.”

“Central Texas was saved from the massive run-up of housing prices because we never really got over the dot.com problems that Austin had.  It took us until 2005 to get out of the situation.  So inflation never really took hold here” states Clark Wilson, homebuilder.

While the real estate market is not nearly as robust as it was in the past couple of years, homes are selling.  Buyers do want a deal, they want to make sure they are not paying too much.  Many buyers are skeptical about the economy.  What buyers and especially investors need to come to terms with is that sellers in central Texas aren’t going to give their homes away.  While now is a good time to buy, buyers need to understand our housing market is still reasonably healthy.
